In existence from at least 1947 - 1955. The location this dealership was in started as a repair shop in 1915 as the Cummings Garage. In 1941 it became the Mid-Town Garage - still just a repair shop. The 1947 New Bedford, MA city directory shows that the location simultaneously used three names: Packard New Bedford Co., Mid-Town Garage, and Clarence A. Smith, Jr. This trifecta of business names continued until at least 1952. By 1955 the business was called Mid-Town Motors of New Bedford. It now sold Studebakers and provided Packard Service according to their ad. The Packard dealership was still listed in the city directory, so they may still have been selling new Packards at this time. Harry Nourjian was the President and Treasurer and Ralph D. Lider was the Vice-President and Secretary. | |||
