1953 Model Year Identification

The Vehicle Number (VN) was found on a plate attached to the left front door post. Engine serial numbers were located on a boss at the upper left-hand side of the cylinder block. Vehicle Number began with the Body/Style Number suffixed by a sequential production number for that body style staring at 2001. Factory introductions were made Nov. 28, 1952. The model run brought production of 89,730 cars. Calendar year sales hit 81,341 vehicles. Packard was ranked 14th among automakers in industry sales. Body/Style 2697, the Clipper Sportster, used the two-door Club Sedan body with Mayfair trim features including chrome interior roof bows; extra heavy side window moldings and staggered-type side trim to give the car a pillar-less hardtop look.
