7.5x9.5 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1949 Packard even-eights right side view, two female standing near front, with 1899 Packard Model A in background, two men standing at rear. Photo caption on back from Packard News Service: People like to talk about their cars, and these two couples are no exception, especially when their cars span a period of fifty years, automotive styling and engineering progress over the last half century is vividly shown in the comparison of Packard's Model A, built in 1899, and the new Packard Golden Anniversary super, the 150-horsepower straight eight engine in the Golden Anniversary Packard super models compares with Model A's 1-cylinder, 12-horsepower mechanism, Model A which still runs under its own power, is preserved in the engineering laboratory at Lehigh University, the alma mater of James Ward Packard, who built the car.

7.5x9.5 black and white Packard Co. file photograph of a 1949 Packard three-quarter front right view, couple in front seat, on dirt road, coming alongside 1899 Packard model A with two occupants. Photo caption on back from Packard News Service: 'Oh! What's that car?' cries the surprised lady in Model A, the first Packard built in 1899, as the new Golden Anniversary super speeds past its ancient counterpart on a side road at the Packard Proving Grounds near Detroit, Mich., the couples seem to be gasping at the fifty years of progress shown by the two cars, Model A still travels under its own power and is preserved in the engineering laboratory at Lehigh University, the alma mater of James Ward Packard, founder of the Packard automotive tradition and builder of Model A.
