Both Falcon and non-Falcon Rancheros were built.

I thought the early Rancheros were based on the Falcon chassis?

VERY nice! Too bad Studebaker isn't around AND allowed to build these today. I'd love to have one... quarter-ton capacity... cheap to run!

A 1966 Mustang "ute" would be nice too. Shorten the cabin, lose the rear seat, and add a bed/tailgate... maybe use Falcon wagon parts?

This car is owned by John Koch. This is a recent purchase and now he can no longer drive it.
He had the engine gone through and it purrs like a kitten. He had it rewired. New speedometer cable, fuel gauge, battery, tires. Rebuilt master brake cylinder and some wheel cylinders.
He got the car ready to go. All you gotta do is come get it.

Sometimes it's hard to know how far down the rabbit hole a person should go, but in this case it was good to go a little further. That's a good fix!

Well, curiosity got the better of me. I had planned to run it as is and working to just get the end play right, but the new gasket leaked after the third day of having fluid in it (gasket tore, sigh), so, knowing I had to do the gasket again, I took it down and decided to tear into it a little further. Here's what I found with that thrust washer I pulled out vs. a new-old one. Not sure what I pulled out of there was even for a Packard diff, unless it had just pancaked that badly.

So, we'll get those back in spec and do the other checks per the manual and get it re-hung.

If you have a kill switch located in the trunk with cable running from the battery to the switch, that is a LOT of extra cable, and it WILL reduce the amount of power available to the starter.
I suggest you move the switch to the front floorboard just forward of the driver's seat. That makes it accessible to the driver and eliminates the long cable or cables. All 6 volt cables need to be full size and of top quality, and all fittings and switches need to be of high quality. You want the shortest path for the heavy starter current that is practical. Adding a ground cable from the engine to the frame is a good idea. All connections must be clean and tight.
