Re: Illinois salvage yard

I have already posted this picture of a car in the salvage yard, it may be of interest to someone here. It is a 1950 Olds. the car is decked out with options that include an aftermarket trunk mounted air conditioner, wouldn't that be a nice touch to an old Packard out there, a period correct air conditioner.

My friends shed, the black sedan on the right is a 1935 Dodge 4dr sedan, he bought it from the original owner in the mid fifties, it has been sitting since the mid sixties. He never registered the car; it has the original 1935 title and paperwork from the state of Illinois. rust free dent free car

The 52 chevy to the left was a daily driver until 1971 when Tony got a company car, this car was recently removed from the barn and is at a body shop as we speak. when it was put up on the trailer I was amazed, no holes in the floorboards, heck they were still painted green.

The car without a clip is a 1935 Olds, 4dr sedan (all doors suicide)the rest of the car is out of the picture, he removed it years ago to repair the engine. This car has been sitting since the late sixties. rust free dent free car

To the left of the Olds is a 1951 Ford F3 pickup truck( no duals), some rust but not bad at all.

Keith, It has a little over 63,000 miles. The undercoating put on up in Boston, where the car was originally sold, is still hanging on the chassis and is really tough to get off, but I'm working on it. I work on it from 08:30 till 5:30. It's a long day as I used to just lie around and eat bonbons.

Randy,

You are very welcome. I will start a blog at some point to share my project experience. Mine is by no means a complete restoration but certainly from the firewall forward a significant undertaking. If there were just more hours in the day or more days in the weekend!

The Bob Berg experience was good for all of us and I really enjoyed speaking with him and was delighted he went the extra mile to reissue those tools. Mine are still on the car working flawlessly holding up the TL suspension. I hope to have the steering linkage back under the car in the next few weeks and have a "roller" again. I will post some pics when I get to that point.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to one day meeting you in person and checking out both your fine rides.

Robert.

Robert, thanks for your good wishes. Why don't you start a blog and tell us of your restoration? I'm sure it will be a more complete resto than mine. I want to drive and enjoy it as soon as possible while I know you are doing a full and complete restoration. My thanks again for getting Bob Berg to reissue the TL tool.
