I don't find a published spec like they had in earlier years but it looks small--am guessing 14ga. That would fit as that ga maxes at 32 amps and generator is rated for 30. At any rate, wouldn't try 55. Here is a chart of ga and capacity. If you're a better mathematician than I, you can rearrange the formulas so you could measure the wire and derive the AWG that is used.http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm

Just so I am clear, the car has a body tag as well a the embossed numbers on the firewall. My concern is the number on the title is the number stamped on the engine. Is that correct?

Thanks

If I'm reading pg 116 of the ABS catalog correctly, it does 1900psi but it also mentions adjustable from 1600 to 2500psi so we'll hope a lower input pressure could be covered. Any one have any idea what the standard BTV puts out. The only worrisome thing is how much reserve if the battery goes dead--of course, I speak from experience BTV's don't work well when engine dies either. What will be interesting is how a poster in another threads conversion with a dual diaphragm vacuum booster works out.

If you look closely you may just be able to see that the hanging muffler clamp is suspended on a strap of fabric reinforced rubber, thus insulating the hangar from the frame bracket. Not particularly easy to see in that picture though.

I would expect that all car manufacturers intended their cars to be identified by the vehicle number. I think in this case it's more a question of how individual states dealt with the issue, especially in the case of missing VN tags and the like, rather than what the manufacturer intended.

All,
Finally got it home. First question. The title has the engine serial number on it and only that number. Is that correct for Packards?

Thanks

There is one thing rather odd about the pic of the muffler hanger that Mal posted:

I see no (or very little) rubber insulation from the frame. In all exhaust applications i've seen both domestic and foriegn there is a long piece of NOT COMPRESSED rubber between the exhaust members and the frame. Otherwise a lot of vibration will Xfer into the frame and will be real noisy.

I suppose the answer to the line pressure question is another question:
What is the diameter of the piston in the Master cylinder???
Does it have a long enuf stroke. Looks like it should have enuf stroke from the pic.

But if the piston is much over 11/16" diameter at the max it will create a hard pedal. That is unless the electro boost is so much more powerful than the vacuum boost.

Keith, I'm pretty sure it is an "Electro-boost". I.e., a electrically powered MC/booster combo where the booster can be mounted elsewhere.

Once Mat posts more pix and PNs we can scope it out.

My QUESTION is: will the MC provide enough line pressure with the Packard stock 1:1 pedal location?
