If needed, spray some penetrator on the exposed threads on the backside of the dash. I could turn mine by hand, but mine had been apart at least once in the last ten years. You are essentially turning the bezel to unthread it from the female receiver on the other side of the dash. If the threads there are rusty, then that is what you are fighting. I often find a shot of penetrator, and then a quick wire brushing and another shot of penetrator helps to clean off fasteners that have threads exposed out the backside like that. Otherwise, you are trying to force all the rust and dirt back through the threaded female portion. If it jams, then it's the thin chrome bezel shell that suffers first.

This wasn't one of Packard's best designs, and hence, why so many folks have mangled switch bezels.

It always works for me. Nothing different in the code. But that sounds like browser gremlins. I'd force a restart of your browser.

Looks great! I’m not sure what’s going on but starting yesterday I’ve been unable to open the larger versions of photos. The address bar just has about;blank in it. Some work but most don’t so I can enlarge this one to see how nice it looks although it sure looks nice in the smaller inline image. Oddly, if I wait a bit, then try again, it often works!

If I remember right, there is a spring between the frame and the parking brake equalizer.

Other possible spring locations could be throttle linkage and clutch linkage.

All of the "wood grain" panels are removable.

The center panel is more tricky as some of the knobs, switches, etc have to be removed first. Here is a picture of when I took my 115 dash apart, which is essentially the same structure underneath. Those four gray t-nuts hold the gauges in. They have nuts on the backside.

Undetermined what color it will end up. But rattle can black is easy to cover up and keep rust off for now. Also it highlights all damage in the fenders that need to be addressed. The black fenders look better than two really rusty front fenders, one half rusty half faded black rear, and one green rear. At least they are all the same crappy black now, and the rust won't get worse in the short term.

Fenders, running boards, lights, rumble seat steps and various bracketry all painted in rattle can black to hold them until the real body work begins. Also replaced all the hardward that holds all the above items. Before it was a hodgepodge of all old, new, and whatever was sitting around in a foldgers coffee cans. All replaced with new grade 5 zinc plated fasterners. Bolts, nuts ,washers, lock washers, etc. Out of a bag of 100 fender washers, I have 4 left.

They came with two steps if the model came with a rumble seat. A third step was an option. It mounted off one of the rear bumper bolts. That extra step is preferred, otherwise the bumper ends up being the first step.

There are reinforcement plates that bolt in underneath.

37 was the last year for a rumble seat. The only juniors bodies that had them were them convertible coupe and sport coupe.
