Get yourself a Inspection Camera, Wal-Mart has them. They're great for looking were you can't get your head in.

What weigh of gear lube was used, 200? Also in that picture I see washers on the studs, I'm guessing those are the copper washer added back in 1947 to keep lube from leaking out around the bolts. Can anyone comment on that?
Thanks!

What a good looking car, well worth all your hard work. My only question is what is " Working like a Dickenson Orphan again!"? I would guess something missing in my reading as a kid.
Thanks!

Any takers yet? I could use one, I have a 47 Custom Super Clipper with Overdrive in it. Not sure if that would be correct for my model.

Evan, that was Mark Lambert in that video. DIY Network at one time had a Classic Car series and it was pretty good, Mark Lambert took a 1941 Packard and did a basic system work over on it. I recorded all but one, missed the one on the Checking the Fuel System. Due to copyright laws I can't post them. Maybe if we could get enough people to ask they would bring it back, just wishful thinking.
Here's the email address if anyone one else wants to write to them: Scripps Networks Customer Service <IS6061_58741@is.instantservice.com>
Maybe some day I can get a copy of Checking the Fuel System, hint, hint.

Yes, I would try a different shop. I had one re cored and it looked good as new.
It is always best to be in a local car club and most of the people there can point you to a good repair shop.
