I was just going to post this exact kit, you beat me to it. The brake pliers make working with the springs easy and safe. I found the Harbor Freight set to be inferior to nicer brands (I used my neighbor's set previously....Snap-On I think) but they do work. I currently have the HF set because I'm cheap. Find a video online that shows how to use them properly. One end to remove the spring, the other to put the spring back on.

It's been a crazy busy week, so my wife and I took some time for a lunch date. First up was washing the car for the first time in 6 months. Looks much better
I'm loving the new interior Beautiful and sunny, high 60's today. So windows down and cruise through town and the country Ate at a local joint called the Red Horse Diner. A cool place that used to be an old service station, from what I understand. Has some old restored fuel pumps outside. The inside is covered top to bottom in signs, neon, and memorabilia Birds of a feather. Another local with a hopped up SS parked next to us. Lots of people inspected the cars on their way out the front door.

Maybe I'm glad the previous owner swapped out my BTV brakes for some dual master manual brakes. I've never tried stopping while going backwards down a hill though. Also never tried to reverse with the parking brake on. I'm going to have to try that today.

That's awesome! So glad that he got to take a ride again. I'm sure that was a great feeling for everyone involved.

I've seen a few pictures of cars on boat ramps....early morning/late evening with glassy water in the background does make a nice pic. But not at the risk of losing the car into the water. I can't imagine all the areas that rust could pop up now. Everything inside the body panels was essentially unpainted steel, correct? Lots of potential for surface rust in places you can't get to. But I guess at least it wasn't a wood-bodied car.

Sad news story here. Apparently the owner put his 39 club sedan on a boat ramp to get pictures and it rolled into the water and sank. That has to be a terrible feeling. Looked like a nice car from the pictures.
Can something like this be saved, or will it constantly have problems?

I think that's a great idea. If I were to do it again I would recommend doing this. Hopefully I never have to remove them again, but if I do then that'll be the test of how well the JB Weld does on a flat surface.

Did a small project the other day. The headlight rings on my parts car were nearly perfect so I wanted to switch them out. The rings that came on the Panama weren't terrible, but they had some pitting:
The upper tabs were missing from both of the donor headlight rings. I found a tab from one of the original rings in the box of random pieces that came in the trunk of the Panama. I used that as a pattern to make another tab from a stainless steel bracket: Then I glued the tab I made and the old tab onto the new rings with JB Weld: After letting it cure overnight I popped both the rings on with no issue. They are rock solid and should do fine. I'm not sure if the JB Weld will hold up if I have to take them back off, but at least for now they are working.

That turned out nice. Same dye that you used on the seat frames?
