In the early 90's, the grandson of the original owner was advertising and selling the remaining stock of NOS parts from the dealership under the name of University Motors. I bought a number of these parts and picked up some of them directly when on my way to pick up a 1956 Packard 400 from Wesley Sylvester in Ottawa, Kansas. The Grandsons name was Doug Barland and he showed me some cars that were left from his grandfathers estate, including a very rusty 1956 400. These could very well be the same cars mentioned by Nick. Details are a bit fuzzy now but I do recall that the cars were stored in a private yard.

There should be a foam rubber doughnut about 1/2" thick that acts as a spring to hold the horn button in place. See photo.

I don't know if this will help or not, but the original Wagner numbers for brake shoe exchange sets are WE-221A Front and WE-220A Rear for riveted, WEB-221A and WEB-220A for bonded.
Replacement lining sets for riveted shoes are WC221DFDC Front and WC220DFDC Rear.

1938 to 1950 water pumps were basically the same body and impeller. Differences were in shaft & bearing assemblies and fan hubs, so your clearances look OK. Odd that the housing would have an appearance of being polished where the impeller rotates. This area is normally machined as opposed to the unfinished adjacent casting surface but not polished. Perhaps an impeller rubbed there sometime in the past.
Clearance to the rear backing plate should be a bit tighter, as shown in the illustration from the 1951-54 Service Manual posted by HH56..

The Packard parts book shows different numbers for 1955 and 1956 pushrods and I've always wondered why. There is no obvious difference between the two and no mention of the change in the Service Counselors or Bulletins.
Maybe it's something like a difference in hardness on the tips. Brian

Yes, I saw it at the Packard Centennial in 1999 at Warren, Ohio. Here is a link to the brochure on this site.

Looks like it could be for a 22nd Series Custom 8. I just checked one and it has the same inlet, outlet and filler arrangement. The tag says Modine AD 4890L019
