Hi Rlongden,
Wow, that is way cool! Thanks for posting. Looks like the couch has been really taken care of and doesn't look worn at all. That is a different upholstery pattern that would take 'just that certain car' to look 'right' in, but I am sure you will get lots of feedback and response. There are just no end to the Packard connections out there! Chris

Hi Pack120C
It would depend on the condition of the old mount, but if it has just separated from the metal, there are some excellent cold bond rubber adhesives out there. We used Tip-Top 2000, a 2-part adhesive back when I was 'in the biz' and one would just rough up the metal with a coarse grinding disc, do the same with the rubber, cold bond them together and, after 24 hours cure time, you would have to shave the rubber off the metal with a chisel to remove it. We did different mounts for customers with no come-backs. A quart of rubber glue and a bottle of hardener should still be well under $100. Not sure what tossing them in an autoclave at Steele costs, but I would imagine fairly pricey... Just a suggestion. If the rubber part of your mounts is badly degraded, then obviously, this is not an option. Chris.

FWIW, my vote follows Ross' & Ernie's... a Packard on the road is multiple times better than one at the crusher!

Hi Neil,
You might get a hold of these guys...https://www.hirschauto.com/1937_38-SIX-110-PACKARD-HUBCAP/productinfo/PACHUB-07/ I see the '37's are currently 'out of stock' but they might be getting more in. If not, the '39's are very similar and would fit. If that is more than you want to spend - I'd post an ad in our 'Packard Parts & Misc.- for sale, wanted, trade' on this forum and see if anyone has. Notwithstanding, you could keep a close watch on Ebay and you might get lucky, as I have seen some good ones go through there from time to time... Good luck. Chris.

Packard sightings...

I live in a very small town in rural, south-central British Columbia, named Princeton. One of the province's main east/west highway routes (#3) goes through our village and we occasionally get visits from car rallies of different sorts. Today a group of upward of a dozen cars pulled into town and over half of them were Packards! I was able to talk with a couple of owners and got bits and pieces of their story. There were a couple of absolutely gorgeous Packard 12's, a '41 180 and a few others I only got glances at, but every car I saw was a show piece. I did not have my camera with me (drat!) or I could post a couple of pics. I did talk to one owner through our driver's windows and he said he was on this site, so maybe by request of this post - he could fill us in a bit more on the route and details of the trip. It seemed the cars all had US plates on them, but from all over the central and west coast states. At any rate, it made for quite a stir in our sleepy little village and everyone was out doing walk-arounds of the historic gems - lots of oohs and ahhs!!! A real treat! Chris.

Yeah, Don, cars of our vintage never quite 'go back the way the came', do they!?!? Lots of hands on them over the years and lots of different 'brands of repair'. I'm learning that with my car... Chris.

I was going to ask what it looked like now? - that's unbelievable!!! What a transformation AND an insane body of work... obviously YEARS of tedium. I saw a pre-war car yesterday, on display at a fruit and vegetable stand near where we live, and the poor thing is going to wrack and ruin, but the guy wouldn't sell it and when we chatted about what it would cost to do some of the needed work, he 'did the chicken' but wouldn't consider selling it to someone who WOULD spend the money. The car was unbelievably complete, with every piece of chrome and door handle in place. He bragged that he had had it for forty years, and I guess that's how these cars eventually end up in a field somewhere. Anyway, I digress - the restoration on that rusty bucket of bolts in the field is magnificent!! Hat's off! Chris

Hi Don,
I know you are working on a totally different car than mine, but after just having done my clutch and having fresh memory of the parts, that N-3012-G, sure looks like the front one on my drive shaft. If the back one has two, are they together, like a CV joint?? If so, the 'other' one you posted might be one of the two for the rear... possibly??

Steve, just wanted to pass along a note of thanks for your constant maintenance to this listing. I read it faithfully and can assure you, if I was ever looking for another Packard, I would use this as a #1 reference. It obviously takes time and attention to winnow through all the listings and post the 'real and relavent' ones - Appreciate your efforts and knowledge! Chris.
