Premium Ignition Points For 120
#71
Home away from home
Home away from home

wjames
We have had an unusually damp summer here on the east cost, and it seem like every I want to take the coupe out for a ride, it had to deal with corrosion on the ignition points.

I have a friend that stated that they make premium ignition points that are made out of Platinum

Does any Know these Platinum points exist for a 1936 120?
If so, who's got them?
Thanks again
Will

Mine were on the windshield post when I got it
First thing I did was take then off, they hit the doors window if the windows were up. I am looking for the ones that attach to the doors just above the hinges.
There is a pic of my car in the registry 1936 120B Conv/coupe
Good luck with her

Re: 120 dual master cylinder

Sounds like I am going to leave it alone. Brakes were just gone thru all new cylinders, hoses, cut to fit the shoes to the drums and it stops pretty good, (like a loaded truck)
I second the copper alloy brakes line and any other metal tubing. Used it on my G wagen, easy to work with, does not rust. I would also add that I would get a tool to flare the end. I usedhttp://www.toolpan.com/Mastercool-72475--Universal-Hydraulic-Flaring-Tool-Set_p_18897.html?gdffi=d5de8d975e554fe98677ff5f83efd439&gdfms=501B21C247FD45DA81BB52DD7C69083A&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjYXu2Ois2AIVE4GzCh1mKQoCEAQYAiABEgLQdvD_BwE , bit expensive but work like a charm.
Thanks again for all your input

Not looking to change my brakes. Someone told that a duel master cylinder does not affect points at a show, I already have turn signals and seat belts but the rest I want as original and as safe for daily driving
Thanks for your input

Thinking of converting my master cylinder to a dual in my 36 120.
What is the best and easiest conversion I could pursue?

120 choke finish

I have just found the choke cover and spring that goes in the exhaust manifold.
What kind of finish should it have?
Porcelain, ceramic, or just paint.
I would think that porcelain or ceramic would interfere with the operation
Thanks again for your attention

Is there a gasket between the manifolds at the heat riser?
Thanks

Re: 120 Ceramic manifold coating

As I am new to Packard, I chose ceramic finish instead of porcelain finish because is seem that the ceramic finish will last longer and stay nicer longer than porcelain. I was told that if I use this a a daily driver, I should expect the porcelain last about a year, the ceramic could look good for a lot longer. As this car is a driver ( that why I have it) I want it to look good as long as I own it
I am going to go with no coating where the manifolds bolt to the block or carb, but all the rest gets coated. The surfaces that the washer meet the manifolds are going to coated.
going to take heat rise flapper apart before I send it out, then rebuild after it comes back
Thanks again for all your help, you guys are great
W James
