The good folks at Classic & Exotic Service Inc. in Michigan have made an exacting reproduction of the Purolator SF-3 filter used on all 7th-9th series Packard 8 cylinder models, as well as many other makes and models. This new unit houses a modern spin-on replacement filter cartridge available from your local auto parts store. The detail on the ends is exactly like the stampings of the original.

Very late production number. These are usually great cars. A lot of bugs worked out.

I can get a fuel pump kit for any Packard in a few days from Then-Now automotive. I don't buy the "parts availability from MY local store" angle to bastard engine swaps. There has been a Packard parts network in place for decades, and many parts at your local auto parts store fit a Packard IF you have the part number. Their computer isn't going to help you much. The key to reliability in a Packard is this: Don't leave things to chance: go through the fuel system, making sure everything is good, from the tank to the carburetor and everything in between.likewise the brakes and ignition systems. If you really travel in the car--tours, long trips, carry points, condenser, rotor, cap with you.

Your T-L system may stop working. I worked on a '55 Caribbean that had been converted to negative ground, the solenoids now needed +12VDC to operate instead of ground. I replaced the relays inside the timing box and re-wired it to send out +12VDC and it worked.

Leeedy-would it have been one of the buildings on Mack, near the center of this 1956 aerial?

That's one expensive Ford starter solenoid.

Wow, those lifters are very noisy, they should be nearly silent. And to service the valves, lifters and take-up devices properly on the Twelve can be a very costly proposition. Indeed. We do about one Packard twelve a year at work, and rebuild the rocker arm/valve silencers for other clients who can do everything else themselves. It's a $50K engine to do right these days.
