I live mid continent and had 5 Points rebuild the front shocks and the rear stabilizer. Quality work.

Dave, Would not the US Army Packards be painted olive drab or similar? The car behind might be a 1937 Plymouth?

I would almost bet that the mansion in the photos with the 740 could still be found in the Indian Village neighbourhood of Detroit.

In Ontario Historic Vehicle plates allow you to use the car for shows or parades only unless you are road testing for repair purposes which is handy for short road trips. I use Hagerty since my agent was bought out by his firm. They seem very agreeable to allow me to use my car for Sunday drives, trips to the coffee shop and even use it for long distance road trips if they are for pleasure or to visit family. I have taken several trips of 1000 miles or more to visit siblings. I always check with my agent before embarking on a lengthy trip to get the OK. The only limitations seem to be for work or shopping. I am very pleased with the leniency of this policy.

My 1947 Super Clipper engine seemed to operate fine in up to about 55 without overdrive and past 70 in overdrive likewise with the 4.10:1 differential. The engine really needed a rebuild also but seemed content at the above mentioned speeds. As recent as the late 1960's many northern Ontario roads were still gravel.

I was very pleased with the wiring harness I obtained from Rhode Island Wire several years ago when restoring my 1947 Super Clipper.

I wrote to the seller and the asking is $38000 Canadian or about $27000 US. I am sure it is negotiable to some extent also since this is a dealer. Nice car for the money. I wish our Canadian dollar hadn't tanked with the price of oil or I might be interested myself. I would go have a look at it for you if it wasn't 800 miles away in the same province.

Our lThunder Bay Antique Car Club visits one assisted living residence every month from May to September. The cars that most of the residents gravitate to are the 50's and 60's cars. Like Owen the age gap is closing in on me fast also.

No snow on the ground so obviously you are not in Siberia We are having a balmy winter this year with only one day at -25C . It certainly is an interesting collection of aircraft. Thanks for the photos.

Guscha, Thanks for sharing those photos. I am very curious as to where they were taken? If that is the Cyrillic alphabet I am seeing I am guessing it is in one of the old Soviet republics. One of the nice things about European travel and obviously where you are now is the efficient public transportation systems. They are so convenient to use and usually very comfortable. We used to have good train service in Canada but that now is limited only in certain densely populated areas. We in the north and indeed most of Canada lost our rail passenger service decades ago. To live without an automobile in the part of the country that I live in makes travel difficult and in some cases impossible between towns. It is a real pity.
