At any event, making money really isn't the issue; making something useful is always a consideration. Clearing $50 isn't going to set any records.

It made perfect sense. Looks simple to fix but probably isn't. What are the choices?

Picked up my Pat this morning after seven weeks in purgatory.

New axle bearings and gear adjustment, new trans, new front chrome, new carb, front wheels packed and a couple of small bits fixed.

Runs wonderfully: peppy, shifts perfectly, no bearing whine, A/C is blasting.

Pick up 15 & 16 yr old granddaughters for an ice cream cone. Drive through steak and shake and sit in the car chillin with malts and such.

Car parked but running with air on.

Motor stops and will not restart.

Gas tank 3/8 full. After an hour of help, mechanic who worked on car says to add gas, even tho gauge has traditionally been accurate.

Granddaughter fetches the snow blower gas can and fills it with 93. Car starts immediately and proceeds as if everything was hunky dory.

Immediately filled tank, which took a bit over 11 gallons.

Went to evening car show and discussed problem.

Consensus is that the fuel line within the tank is rusted and that I probably need a new tank/intake bits.

Talked to our tech director this evening who tells me that the trwo books do not cover the cone clutch version, which apparently predominates.

We are withdrawing the brochure, but will step forward with something more useful if we can get a cone clutch version..

I will be sending money back to those who pre purchased; stay tuned in case we get the brochure we need.

I have added a few lines in the back of the book that advocate belonging to a Packard club and using this site for the last word on the subject.

Our club thought the booklet would be useful to owners of cars so equipped.

I have seen the test copy of the brochure and I think you will be happy with it. It is readable; the pictures show well.

We will also be including a separate booklet on installation which Roscoe has provided.

It's being printed on cover stock which is a nice, stiff, heavy paper that won't wilt in use.

If you count the labor that has gone into restoring the scans, this will never be a moneymaker. Our hope is that it will be useful right now.

One reason we are not posting the images here is that they are way too big for this site. Getting good detail in scans means larger files!

These will be on sale at the national by POC.

It is my understanding that the limited slip differential was only an option in 1956.

Can anyone confirm that this was exclusive to Packard?

Roscoe has graciously supplied Packards of Chicagoland with hi-res scans of the booklet. After we photoshop out the oil stains and unfade the images we will be printing this booklet as a benefit for our club.

Cost, (including mailing in the US) is $12.50. PM me for paypal address.

Size will be 8.5x11, with a comb binder. This makes the type easy to read; we are paying special attention to the photos so that they are clear and equally easily readable.

A useful addition to your repair/maintenance library.
