Since the rebuild kits for the T/V do not include the compensator valve spring, probably the safest thing to do is to send it to Ed Strain in Pinellas Park, Florida He rebuilds the dreaded T/V and replaces that spring.

Hey guys, hope someone can help identify this car. A friend found it behind a burned out gas station in northern Ontario and has challenged me to identify it.

Looks like your trim code is 49 which would be Dark Gray Broadcloth, Striped. You can check out the reference section of the Packard Club for more info.

Johannesburg is in the southern hemisphere where it is now winter. The average high temp in July is 61 and the low is 39. So a cold winter could be really chilly down there.

Brian, don't know where in the Detroit area you are, but there is a NAPA store on Telegraph near Ford Rd in Dearborn Hgts. As far as O'Reilly's, here in Detroit they still go by the Murray's Auto Parts name, However, I would bother with them as the times that I have been in there they have no clue as to what a Packard is. The computer system that they use doesn't even have Packard listed, and as you know, with the kids that work in there, if it's not in the computer it doesn't exist.

Even if the plant were to be on the registry , the city of Detroit has a nasty habit of demolishing buildings that are on the historical register.

Just saw on the local 11pm news, that the old Packard plant is the victim of arson and is burning. Current reports are that arsonist set fire to stacks of pallets and plastic barrels stored in the assembly line areas. Hazmat has been called to the scene.

Unfortunately, 'Chore Girls' are getting difficult to find in some urban areas. Seems 'crack-heads' use them in their drug usage and many cities have banned the sale.

SMS Auto Fabrics should have everything that you're looking for. Just don't be in a hurry. I'm planning on ordering the fabric for my 56 Clipper this summer and hope that I'll get it in time for the car to be worked on this winter

I bought a complete exhaust for my 56 Clipper from Classic last summer and had a few problems with pipe lengths and one bend. I even took the offending parts to Classics' factory in Ohio (only a 3 hour drive from here). The matched everything to their bending guides (which they got from Midas, BTW). However, their guides are for senior cars only, and with the Clippers being on a 5" shorter wheelbase, its no wonder that things didn't fit right. Ended up going to a local muffler shop to get things to fit right.
