I have a Kanter repop tank workers great ,but be careful not to mess up the BUNG ,the little threaded thing that attaches to the tank where the drain bolt is ,they'll spin in hiker hole when working with the drIn bolt then start to leak and are a pain to fix as nothing will stick to the tank with all of this alkyhol gas

I had a mysterious overheat problem in my 52
We have basically the same car
I fixed EVERYTHInG ,recorded the rad ,changed the water pump ,hoses ,thermostat ,hot hot hot
Finally I figured out that I had the wrong radiator cap !,,, it was too short even though it fit on the hub of the radiator
Correct cap /no more problem ,do you have the right cap?

Oh I noticed your from Houston too ,I'm just north of the 610 north loop
The axel was just a shaft and a bearing ,it's probably all of those tracks everywhere in town I cross or perhaps because my 52 is so peppy I drive it like a MANIAC
Hope you get it! Will be happy to send out part sorrsing advice or mod experiences

Ok I think I have enough from the pic and everyone's comments to route it right now THANKS !,
,I'll get a bunch of heater hose and have a plumbing party ! I may put a shut off valve on the heaters inlet if I can as I live in million degree Houston

When I was looking for that switch under the dash I found the heater duct that runs to the center of the passenger side of the firewall ( defroster?)was old and decaying so I'll try to replace this while I'm fooling around under there
What about this mysterious switch tho ,time for it to come out for inspection ?

Ok good advice from all
Looks like it would be the shaft and some bearings a nut and some retainers of some sort
Spotted the parts at kanter's Packard catalog this afternoon
Right away along with the bearings etc
The mechanic at the corner with the lift said the same thing too
All of that dramatic grinding and scraping had me in the "never ending expense panic spiral ",but I your comments have helped me pull out of the dive ,back on the happy Packard driver course
Think good used axel will do or is it worth the extra for a new axel shaft?

Rear axel swap?

On the way back from the art museum in the 52 touring sedan,
I've blown my rear axel it seems ,one of the wheels moved out sideways ,fortunately the fender skirt kept it in ,horrible scrape noise
I rebuilt the thunderbolt 327 and have a Chrysler 518 a overdrive which is great (70 mph at 1900 rpm)
So anyone have a recommendation ,or commonly accessed rear end idea?
Rebuild ,? Ford 9"?find a Mopar because of the transmission ?is there a common go to rear end

Man I really had this MESSED Up! I thought the hot water " out" was the tap on the water pump but looking at it I guess I had it backwards
I ve "y"'d the hose to feed a parrelel loop to heat the dual intake manifold I installed
So how I have it now ,understanding from what you said the top of the head is the "out",
It y's and goes through the manifold with one part and the other is going into the top tap of the heater core going in
The side lower tap takes the hose to the outer tap on the firewall this is the part where I can't tell which part of the switch it's going to buts it's the fender or outer side one
Then the inner tap on the firewall is the out from the switch and rejoins the manifold loop to go to the top of the water pump and then to the bottom of the radiator which I guess is the I. For the radiator
The heater core in your pic looks like it had 3 taps !
The valve which would have the curved elbow you mentioned is in a box of some sort where I can see which is which attached to the passenger side of the fire wall

So from the water pump the hose goes to the fire wall inner tap
Then out the outer tap to the lower tap on the core then out the upper tap to the head ? Does that sound right ?
I have a always on problem and want to make sure the heaters plumbed right

I love my 52 ! I say this while waiting for a tow truck
Think the rear axel blew up
I've fixed up all kinds of things on this car and then I like it more
Sounds like 2tons of big fun to me
I put in a booster and front discs that was a huge plus for this tank to stop good
I could go on and on
I paid more for my project car in the beginning
If it's got s manual you can work out a Borg Warner overdrive and you have a freeway cruiser
