Does anyone know where I can order one of these from? Its where the three lines come together and the stop light switch sits on top. On a 1955 Packard 400 with Torsion level suspension.

Hi just wondered how your project went and how much $$$$ and aggravation it caused you?

One more question-I noticed after I re-assembled the treadle vac the return action on the plunger/hydraulic part of the master cylinder was extremely slow-I assume its because of all the new parts I put in it-will this action quicken once brake fluid is added to the unit and the vacuum line re-attached?

Well I just rebuilt my Treadle-vac master cylinder and hopefully by monday it will be in the car-I have once question, that little metal box on the bottom rear that contains "hair" what is the purpose of that, and also what kind of brake fluid should I use in it.

By the way i bought the rebuilt master cylinder from Chirco Auto approx 2 years ago.

Hi I own a 1955 model 400 and over the last couple of years driving it I have noticed the power brakes seems to lack the power they should have. I recently had new hoses put on the car and I had the brake system checked and bled by my regular mechanic-(I live alone and it takes two people to do the job properly). although the braking power improved its still not where I am comfortable with it. Im afraid some idiot in my town will panic stop and i will be unable to stop the car in time-the car WILL stop it just doesn't seem to have the power to stop rapidly. Of course I suspect the Bendix treadle vac (who doesn't)anyone have any advice?

Thank you for your reply Im sorry I have been quite busry this week but yes I would be interested in those wires you have-right now Im running the car with a set for a ford 352 block-well the guys at the local parts store said-thats the only thing I have. the problem is two of the wires are just too short and are laying on the valve cover-iy really looks sloppy. Does anyone make spark plug wires for the 1955 V8 and no im not talking about those lousy ones where you have to attach the spark plug end and the distributor plug end. Someone must.

I had the same thing happen to me last fall and I had Pete Fitch rebuild my ultramatic-I remember when i was talking to him he said there were several major differences in the 1955/1956 Ultramatic. I suggest you call him ASAP and install a transmission cooler on the car-I got a nice one from Jegs it only cost $114.00 (and it had an electric fan) plus the mounting kit (I also added a tranmission heat gauge. One of the problems with Ultra that if the linkage is not properly set up-and its a tricky task-the high clutches will burn. But give Pete a call.
