Oh, I figured just the box but if you're saying you can't disengage the steering shaft and it only comes together as a unit, well I suppose it has to be that way. I thought the steering box was one piece and the shaft was attached. My mistake, if that's the way it is then that's what I need.
Thanks, Steve

Hi DAF, I can't make it to Hershey this year - need to pack for a big move at end of October, but is it possible to ship the steering box to my current home?
Thank you, Steve

Hi, if anybody picks up the 1939 Super Eight that was a roll-over I could use the steering gear box - let me know what price you have in mind. Also a horn medallion with the Packard Crest.
Thanks! Steve

Another possibility is that your custom stainless tank is missing its baffles, which is causing major sloshing of the petrol......... Just a thought.Quote:

As regards your question on Pertronix, I had a 1954 Caribbean and a Pacific (exact same engines) and had 6 volt Pertronix in both, 22 years for the Caribbean and 13 years for my Pacific. Never a bit of trouble. I now have a 1939 Super Eight with the 6 volt Pertronix for almost 5 years and again, no trouble. All my Packards seem to start quicker and run smoother with electronic ignition. Hope this helps.
