yesterday i did a vac test on my packard. i studied 'how to ' on youtube.
tell me what you think.
i connected the vac tube to the vac line which leads to the vac adv on the distrib. i had a STEADY read of 19inHg.
when i revved the engine and held it steady the reading stayed constant and steady.
this should be a good read .....right...?
thanks.

this wkend i am going to check the centrif adv on the distrib.
thanks.

how do you guys take a vac reading?
once i remember taking a reading from the fuel pump side of the car.???? i do remember the needle had a lot of vibratrion.

thanks

I cleaned my air filter and the mesh, oiled it again and filled with oil to the proper level. so that is all good.

I was not accurate in my description of my assembly.
it is true my set up does not have a guaze filter at the top. just the oiled metal filter inside. MY LID DOES NOT SIT FIRMLY ON THE BODY AS I DESCRIBED.

thanks OD,
my car looks most like the first ex. but the top fits snug against the body with no exposed filter.
so how does the carb get enough air? does it get enough air?
I will ad this to my list of 'things to do'.

I look at lots of pictures in reference to out cars. I see pictures of packardairfilters where the filter or mesh is above the rim of the filter body.
i have a 1952 200 umatic and my filter is enclosed in the body and the top sits tight on the body.
Why are some different?
tim
