"Brand New" Chevys for sale. Some with less than 10 miles on them.

It's a leftover from the two refinery problems in your region in the last couple of months. It will settle down in a couple of months.

As the owner of a Corvair I wholeheartedly agree about Nader. As did the NTSB...in 1972. Three years after production ended.

Most likely all the caps are bad, just plan on replacing them. When you get that done, put power to it and see if you get high voltage on the secondary side of the transformer. If not, the vibrator is bad. There are several places that make solid-state ones. Or you could easily make your own.

Do a google search for vibrator and see what you can find.

Wow, looks like the '51 that I bought a couple of weeks ago. I'm still debating parting it out or fixing it.

Anyway, I looked at rust repair panels on line and found most of what I would need to fix it. Lower front fenders, inner and outer rocker panels, rear quarters, front and rear floors and trunk pan comes to just under a grand. Which once you figure in the time it takes to form panels and patch a bunch of small pieces together, isn't really that bad of a price.

520 mile range carrying 3000 gallons of fuel is .17 mpg or about 915 feet.

Interesting.

From what I've been told, my Clipper came out of Tennessee or Kentucky.

I'm going to guess that he number was pressed into the firewalls in sequence. But then the fire walls were moved to assembly in batches on skids. But not necessarily in the order they were pressed. So you will see a run of them come down the line and then a huge jump in order.

Which brings up a point, where the firewalls all the same? Across all models?

Yes, it's the same car. Now I have one more piece of the story.

From what I know, it was painted like that in 1997/98 When the Packers went to the super bowl. It was given away by a radio station in an on-air contest. I'm not sure which station. The guy that won it drove it for about 3 years and then it went to Tanners for a bunch of years. The story I'm getting is that the guy who owns the bar got the signed title from the winner, but never titled it and over the years has lost the title. It's been sold a couple of times after that with a bill of sale. I don't have the last titlee's name yet but I was told he has since moved to Minnesota and no one has been able to contact him.

The bottom side is much rustier than I originally thought. It looks like it was sitting outside over dirt for a while. It's going to take a lot of sheet metal to fix. First thing is to see if I can get it titled. Without that, there is no point putting any money or time in it.

One other thought.

If its your first classic, buy a runner that you can drive and have fun with. Many cars are bought by people and then stripped down into a big project that never gets done.
