Thanks, Steve
I have a feeling that even if pictures do exist, they may not be marked. And how would you tell that it's a 734? One way... I think that the 734s were the only chassis that had "locks" on the lock rings. Not actual locks, but bolts. I recall seeing quite an odd 1930 Packard in one of the CCCA publications that sounds like your description. It was a mystery photo, and I don't remember if it was ever positively identified.

The green car is conventional. I saw the red car at the 100th anniversary meet in Warren in 1999. It's one of those cars that stops you in your tracks. It was gorgeous!

Sorry. This isn't cars, nor is it mine. A friend e-mailed these to me and I thought that this could very easily happen to a stored car.

As you state, problems develop if not regularly used. With old cars, especially ones north of the Mason Dixon, they do not get used regularly. We rebuilt the windows in the '42 limo several times before changing them to electric. In all, we've converted four 180 Packards with electric. J.D. No, we didn't convert to 12 volt. We used 1950s vintage Lincoln 6-volt window motors and mechanisms. For the division window, we used a 12-volt station wagon rear window motor, and installed a converter. A little cutting of the inner door panel is required to install the mechanisms, but once the upholstery is in, the only way to tell that anything has been done is the FACT THAT THEY WORK! 41ParPack It may have been in Earl's shop back in 1997-98, briefly. Most recently, though, I think my other brother's 1941 limo has been in there getting an o.d. installed, and my dad's '42 limo also may have recently been in there as well. There is another real nice '41 formal sedan in the St. Paul area. It's possible that car was in there too.

I take that back. I think he had less than $30,000 in it.

I think he had a total of around $40-45,000 in the car. As for time... it helps to not have children. Ask him what a TV is, and he'll look at your kind of slanted.
The a/c compressor had already been removed in the "before" shot, and not yet mounted in the "after." shot.

Paint work was also done professionally. All disassembly and assembly was done by my brother between Thanksgiving 1997 and July 1998. Again, he never before took a car apart. He did his own brake work and wiring, the engine was so good all it required was the honing of the cylinders. He converted the hydro-electric (??) windows to purely electric to avoid the hassle of the original type failing (if they aren't used regularly, they're prone to fail within a year or two).
The car was done in time to be displayed on the field of dreams in Warren in 1998... a mere 17 months after dragging it home. Oh... and he drove it from Minneapolis to Warren, then drove it back.!!!
