Re: Cloisonne' on Twelve Hub Caps

That's a case where either the original owner, or current owner (probably the latter) requested the green cloisonne to match the interior. Being a Packard, if the current owner made the decision, he is probably claiming "since it is a Packard, you could order whatever you wanted."
Stretching it a bit, in my opinion, unless you can prove that the original owner requested the green. If it were my car, and I had the original hupcaps/cloisonne, I would have displayed or had available, the originals. Without that, I think if I were a judge I would probably deduct points.

I believe the 1938 and '39 Sixes used the Pines Winterfront as well.

About an inch wide by an inch and a half long. The thread count is WAY higher than burlap. It's probably more than the oxford shirt, as well. The color is a dark olive or khaki green... it could be that color from contamination.

Actually, that horse's "end" was facing north.

Well maybe first try works. If not, let me know.
Anyway, the material is probably thinner than that of a button down Oxford shirt.

Working with a new computer here and I do not have my photoshop application installed yet, so this may take me a few tries to get a good size photo up here.

No. Actually very thin. I have not replaced it, so I'll try and get a photo of what it looks like.

The material I found on mine, which was original, was more like cloth. My car is a 1940 Custom Super Eight.

Re: transmission/overdrive oil for R-9

I was thinking that putting in the thicker oil would be my tell-tale. If the noise continues at the same "tone", I would then look into different areas for the source. If the tone changes or is eliminated, my search would end. But, as you state, my work begins.
You see, I have no idea where the noise is eminating, with several long-time experts riding with me and being a bit puzzled. When I was looking at an original pieces of Packard literature this weekend, that's when I found this service piece that goes along with the film strips they had for mechanics. The thicker oil was only the first step... the next steps are not going to be fun, but at least I'd know I've tracked down the source.
It's not a constant rattle, just at certain speeds, which is what the service slide-show was talking about as well.
I may have put in the 85-140 as you have. At this point, I don't remember. I do remember the 80 or 85, number, but perhaps forgot about the 140. I'm going to give the 250 a shot and I'll let you know how it turns out.
