You will find it amazing how many problems seem to disappear when you completely replace your wiring. Don't forget to replace your battery cables. I strongly suggest a 00-gauge cable for your ground, even though it probably didn't come with it new.

I can't answer the second part of your question, as to whether that's causing your problems, but it looks like your coil is very close to if not sitting on top of an incorrectly routed heater hose. Is it possible it's getting too hot? Also, your plug wires/coil wire look very questionable (condition) as well.

I can show you what the coil looks like... I've seen reproductions of these on eBay every once in a while, but I do not know anything about their quality or correctness.

Go over there, drive real slowly, and you just may get your wish. One or two may find their way through your window!

I've read just recently that interesting and valuable collector cars have been leaving SA because of the political climate.

West, if I implied in my response over on the AACA forum that the 1st edition of Kimes had a picture of the engine, pardon me, it was a picture of the car itself.

Thanks for clarifying that up. I was totally confused as to why they'd take such an important photo out for the Second Edition.
So, JD, feel free to buy the Second Edition.

That was when Warren Packard's family took it on vacation. The car was then returned to Packard after Warren died in the plane accident. Supposedly the car went to Europe, minus its engine.

From what I've found out on my AACA post, it sounds like you should look for a first-edition book. There seems to be two or three books on eBay at any given time, but I don't know how often a first-edition comes up.
I just got done reading the Spring 2003 issue of "The Packard Cormorant." Send me your email address to StelvioGT @ yahoo. com and I'll forward a pdf of the "Monobloc Twelve" story (that goes for anyone else who'd like to see the story as well).
Perhaps I can get you up to speed before PackardV8 chides you for not knowing everything there is to know about it.

WHY is it that those jokkers over at the AACA Packard forum think THEY just discoverd the I12 ????? I mean Jesus Christ.

Where did you ever get that idea? If I gave the impression that I was the initial "discoverer" of the photo, I apologize. I certainly didn't intend to do so. I only posted the photo because I had never seen a photo of the Inline 12, and thought it would be funny to ask for one for my birthday. As it turns out, there are several non "veterans" and non Packard owners who not only never saw the photo, but never heard of it either.
Which makes the new post a good thing, in my opinion.
