"Concourse" vs. "Concours"
#11
Home away from home

John McCall and Mitch Parker
I have mentioned this problem to our Webmaster but I am sure he is busier with more important things. However, as Packard enthusiasts, we certainly need to reflect our knowledge and refinement of terminology. In our Owner Registry one of the options relevant to condition is:
"Concourse"
Well, most ALL our Packards are ready to at least roll down a highway or road. That, essentially, is the meaning linked to "Concourse." The proper word in our Registry application should be "Concours" (no "e"): an exhibition of items in which awards are given for outstanding examples.
Could somebody PLEASE correct this? I see the misuse of this term even with some of the most respected classic automobile dealers; let's not be among them!

Magnificent. I think I will use it as inspiration for the side and rear of my "Contemporary Caribbean.' Delighted that my original posting has brought in some other comments and material! Packard folk are the best.

Here is my take on what a contemporary Caribbean hardtop-convertible might look like. I love Teague's 1956 work, so you will find it a source of inspiration in this rendering. In step with the times, the cross-hatched grille inserts would be flat black...not silver or gold. The circle-and-vee might be all chrome. The side scripts could remain gold as per the original 55-56 versions!

I have new front parking light and turn signal lenses to replace my originals on my 1956 Patrician. Suddenly I have realized that I have never replaced such on the front of any 56 I have owned. Does someone have a good procedure? The shop manual has no mention of it that I can find.

Does anyone know of or have access to any kind of employee newsletter which might have been distributed to East Grand and Conner Avenue employees during the fifties [similar to what Kaiser-Frazer produced for their workers]?

Leaking Head Gasket

We have a leaking head gasket on our 1938 Packard Eight (120 series but not called that in '38). Has anyone had any luck with an after-market solution to stop the leak? I know what the answer probably is, but just asking. Everyone always prays for a quick fix! The leak is located at the #7 cylinder.

Geeze! Wish we had known about you when looking for a mechanic for our 56 Packard! You aren't really that far from Palmetto, GA. We have been able to straighten out most of the problems inflicted by a mechanic who was touted as a good Packard technician. What a horror story. Contact information, please, for future reference and for others in the Atlanta/Chattanooga area.
