Tim, thanks a million.....................there was a bearing shop in L.A. that did the babbitt, Globe Bearing,,and i believe he did it for egge. closed now.

Do you know about what dale charges?,, also wally karr, babbitts..he spins them, which you need to do to keep the heat, alot of the shops pour them, but trying to keep the shell hot, is a hit and miss. spinning you can control the heat better.

how do contact dennis..

thanks rik

i am thinking writing dale and see if he would finish my shells,,,i guess both, org. and the ones i will make out al. bronze, i can turn them, snd even make a jig to flange them. have him do the rest. but it is probaly more trouble for him.

thanks tim

Hi, Tim,

I saw dale's 12 project.WOW,, any i emailed him, me on a pow income can't his, out this world work.

He said i could use bronze for shells,,,i aluminum bronze,,then all i need to do is tin them..

i can make my own jigs, and then have a machine shop machine them to size.

my problem, is i could not get anyone in the 90s to babbit my dads shells...so i ended up with poured rods.

trid to get 12 running for my mom...my dad was going to pour his own shells,,,has them tinned..

except a year before he died, we had a garage fire, his 56 patrician got it, it was org. mint. the twelve parts got it too.. the 12 was at my grandparents place.

with the poured rods,,if i take babbitt out ,,i hear they grind the rod, to give a surface for babbitt

people in the local pack. club say just use them, i don't feel good with them.. i don't want to pull the crank in a few miles and do it again.

green bay....are you saying to use a bearing with an inner race?....there is not that much room..for that...the shaft is close to 2 inches..with an inner race.. that would be close to 3.5 inches or more od.. if i had rhe room i would do this to all shafts...but no room... i am going to ask the shop...the shaft hardness needs to be 58-65 hrc..

thanks...rik

the od, is 2-3/8s. width 1 inch. l was going to use it but od was too big,

but since i can take out packards casting,,,and make my own,, will use it..
