View the step by step process athttp://www.woodgraining.com/

They sell the grainers and other tools but the process is shown on the videos. If you want to hand grain with a brush look at their additional sources link.

bolt orientation 28 526 front brake linkage

Took a photo of the linkage before disassembly but question the authenticity of the arrangement of the attachment bolts. Are the lower two bolts of the fitting on the frame supposed to be two castleated bolts to the outside of the frame with cotter pins? Experience needed and a photo would be most helpful.

Also a photo of the front engine mount attach bolts from the inside of the frame would be appreciated.

found black steel split lock washers and brass nuts at Ace hardware. Special tool handle in the overhaul book looks like you cannot place much torque on the nuts so 'snug up so as to prevent leaks" looks good.

Loose rivets

My 28 526 frame front spring aft mount has 6 loose rivets. They are not broken but loose so that the fitting wiggles. Is there any way to tighten them up since I believe they were a hot rivet installation. If not does anyone know of a button head bolt that would work in that location so as to look stock from the outside? The fitting is not cut for a carriage bolt.

1928 6 cyl lifter cover gasket

The lifter cover gasket is a solid one piece of cork with 3 holes corresponding to the bolt hole. The cover has 3 standoff tubes with a flared end on the interior side. The gasket holes are not large enough to go over the flares and the motor schematic shows the gasket behind the flares. I cannot seem to get the flares to come off. Is there a special way to install the gasket or is there some way to remove the flares to place the gasket on properly?

Parts manual calls for 5/16 steel lock washers with 7405 brass nut 5/16x24. Overhaul manual just says "be sure all exhaust nuts are pulled up tight to prevent air leaks"

There is no indication of tightening sequence or torque.

Do the brass exhaust manifold nuts use steele washers? Flat, locking or both?

also what is the tightening torque on the manifold nuts? any special sequence for tightening?
