If you would like something period correct and attractive, suggest Coco Mats. You can make your own pattern as they will make a custom fitted mat for you. This is what I did with my '63 Avanti. They have a good selection of colors and designs. They also provide a rubber pad for the pedal area. Not inexpensive, but something you will enjoy and others will admire. It is a quality product. I have used coco mats on several of my cars (old and new) and love the look. Go to their online site and look around. Just a suggestion.

The ad on the 55 Deluxe says it is a manual transmission car. For $500 one could have all the parts for a transmission conversion. Cheap at twice the price.

Kevin, I was thinking one could cut slots in the rubber mount and washers to allow for changing mount or adding/subtracting shims to get proper radiator grille alignment. Just a thought. Enjoying very much your postings on the 115C. Merry Christmas.

Enjoyed reading about your experiences in boat racing. I agree, repurposed WW-I aircraft engines were used in marine and auto racing applications. They had the power to propel boats and vehicles to record setting speeds back in the day. Maybe I missed something, but I don't think there were any Liberty engines used in PT boats. PT boats were equipped with Packard designed and built V-12s which much different than the WW-I Liberty aircraft engines. The PT boats used three engines.

Re: 1953 Patrician: has anyone updated from Treadlevac to modern 2-chamber mstr cyl?

An easier solution would be to install a non-boosted dual master cylinder. Pedal and linkage parts from a non-power brake Packard are available. Mounting the master cylinder will require some thought and work, but doable. I had the Easamatic power brake system removed from my 1955 Super Clipper (no torsion level and similar to your 1953 Patrician) and replaced with a conventional single cylinder master cylinder. All parts were from an earlier Packard. The brakes worked remarkably well, they were well modulated and easy pedal action. Ross Miller did the conversion. This should be a more than satisfactory change even with disc brakes on the front. Of course, you will need a proportioning valve so as to have good brake balance between the front and rear brakes.

My guess - a sticking fast idle cam/linkage on the carburetor.

Goops, BIG mistake. GL1 for trans and od and GL4 for differential. Thanks for catching this error.
