Just wondering if Packard every considered offering a front-wheel drive?

This past week a rerun of American Pickers they picked a guy in Florida collection of vintage cars housed in a warehouse with an astonishing number of pristine functioning neon signs. Among the bevy of signs were several exquisite Packard signs in all their neon glory.

Of course, initially the guy wanted to sell, but once the pickers go there, "No, I think I want to keep that" became his familiar refrain.

Any idea who actually owns that Packard? Is it from someone's collection?

Thanks to you and the other respondents validating I wasn't out in left-field about Raft driving a '49 Packard convertible in "Red Light."

Since my knowledge of Packards is superficial at best, I can't ID Packards about the drop of a hat.

I appreciate the info about the series and model name.

Just finished watching George Raft in the 1949 movie "Red Light" on TCM.

George drives a 1949 Packard convertible throughout the movie.

I couldn't find an image from the movie. All I could find was a pic of the car.

Perhaps someone has seen "Red Light."

A member of gangster John Dillinger's gang stole a "blue-green 1928 Packard sedan" in 1934 as a getaway car.

Can anyone provide the specifications about the '28 Packard? Motor size? Model? wheel-base size? I'd like to know the name of a color identified as "blue green."

I'm currently reading '"John Dillinger: The Life and Death of America's First Celebrity Criminal" by Dary Matera.

In 1934, Dillinger and his criminal gang used a Packard sedan as a getaway car when they robbed the Security National Bank and Trust in Sioux Falls. Although, the author doesn't identify the model. But knowing Dillinger's proclivity for fast powerful cars, it was probably the most powerful and fastest Packard available in 1934.

After the heist, Dillinger and his cohorts piled into the Packard with hostages held at gun point on the running boards. The Packard was about to hit top speed when a police officer put a slug in the radiator. Amazingly, the Packard made it another four miles before seizing up.

What, if any, were the mechanical challenges of keeping two 6-cylinders balanced and in sync in a 12-cylinder Packard?
