I believe a Packard V-8 could definitely handle a supercharger with no problem, but I doubt a Twin-Ultramatic simply couldn't take any more torque. Maybe if you matched the supercharged engine with a 4-speed and 3:25 ratio rear axle, you would have a pretty cool hot rod; but let's face it, folks, Packards were not the kind of cars 1950s gear heads went after to soup up.


And let's not forget Lou Senter's Packard V-8 powered dragster, the first to achieve 150 MPH! Though I doubt it was backed by a TU.....

I'D be curious to know if anyone has adapted a manual transmission from another VEHICLE to a '55-'56 Packard V-8.

Is it possible to adapt an aftermarket bell housing (e.g. a Lakewood blowproof housing) to the V-8?
