Well I got a second estimate from Tennessee. Wow!

Grill is boxed up and going to the bargain first guy for $2K.

I had the bumpers and bumper guards re chromed for about $1600.00. The price for the grill only was $2,000.00.

I had hoped to stay somewhat close for the work but there are only 2 Chrome shops left in Florida that can do work of any size.

Does anybody make stainless reproduction 1937 radiator grills? I just got back from the chrome shop after getting my heart restarted.

Took the front end apart and found some damage evidence behind the grill. I think it can be straightened out though. Left front fender has some damage in the headlight mounting area and not all is from impact. The mount is rusted out. Most bolts came out without resistance.

Part 2
I'm trying to get the chrome grill out of the painted shell.
Can someone confirm that I need to bend the tabs on the center painted rib section to get the chrome grill section free?

I have put a straight red line (see red arrow) from the top of the grill surround to the "chin" area of the grill. Shouldn't that be straight?

Thanks,
bilbo

I removed a piece from behind my grill on my '37 Sport Coupe.

I'm not exactly sure how it is supposed to look. It goes behind the grill and below the bottom of the radiator.

I think the sides should be straight and vertical and the bottom flat out to the point.

Yes....No?

I got help from my son and we removed the front cap today. It appears the left fender might have impacted something in the last 70 years. There is a lot of hardware that doesn't match.

Is the radiator supposed to be in the center of the surround? Mine was off to the right.

My left headlight mount is not looking so good. (Pic 1)

The sheet metal that is behind the grill and below the radiator should be flat on the bottom and straight on the sides, correct? (pic2)
