You are right! I better plan to leave early in the morning. I hope I can get my crew to leave that early!
I did drive this car to an event once that was about an hour away from my house and it was in 90° weather in the DC area. Before I started I opened the cowl vent and all the vent wings including the ones in the back. I was comfortable as long as I didn't stop. Of course there was a major traffic jam on the beltway and I had to stop and it was pretty awful. But once I started moving again it was fine.

The previous owner of my 47 Clipper wisely installed an after market temp gauge which I rely on as I really want to tour in this car. Driving this car from my my home in SC to the new house in Fl in the next couple of weeks. Really looking forward to it.

I had hoped with 3D industrial printing we would be able to get all those parts. But that little miracle has not trickled down to us yet.
Although my vent window glass was made by cnc. I guess that's something.

Just added it..it did not survive the initial posing! Apologies.
Yes, I know the clearances can cause low oil pressure. One of the previous owners rebuilt the engine, (I was told) and that is why I assessed the oil pump. I reasoned that if someone rebuilt an engine and the pump was "adequate" they probably would not have replaced the oil pump. My initial approach was to see if the oil pressures were seriously beyond spec and if so, replace the oil pump. If that did not work, a bottom end rebuild would be necessary and upon completion, both causes of low oil pressure would be addressed.

Oil Pump Assessment

I am trying to determine if I should replace my oil pump. I took some readings and made a chart.
A few notes: The service manual (page 52) calls for 40 lbs in "normal" driving. The owners manual calls for 30W oil. I am running a modern multi viscosity oil--10W-30W. Readings are slightly under but it appears I do not to replace my oil pump. Any observations or opinions??
