So what do we see here? The first pic below shows a Soviet woman, bemedalled like Napoleon. She collected several Orders of Lenin for outstanding services rendered to the State, the Order of the Red Banner of Labour*, had been honored even as Hero of the Soviet Union for her heroic feats in service to the Soviet state and society and received last but not least 1946 the Stalin Prize (third class). Perhaps tin toys to your eyes but attended with a great deal of money. I picked up her scent after a friend showed me a picture in the magazine "Советский Союз" from October 1955, showing that woman and her daughter sitting in a ZIS convertible, which gives rise to all sorts of speculation. This has led us to the question on how she was able to achieve so much.
It might easily go wrong but now would be the right moment to venture a guess.

* BTW "...Mikhail Gorbachev received the Order of the Red Banner of Labour for harvesting a record crop on his family's collective farm in 1947 at age 16, an honour which was very rare for someone so young. To date, he is one of the Order's youngest recipients..." [wikipedia]

Howard, beautiful women will help us to change the topic.

This rumor will come to us in a 3-episode series and will become more popular due to its contrasting juxtaposition of Soviet women in the 1950s resp. 1990s. Let's see how I'll find back to ZIS and ZIL.

Two more quotations according to the offer from the top-rated seller:

"In stock and ready to ship."
"Act now, only a few left at this price."

And the unabridged reply text from the customer service in answer to my e-mail, related to its availability and price:

"What is the length of this bus?
Thank you for your interest. If you have further suggestions, requests, questions, or concerns, please ask them at any time. We are here to help : )

Customer Service,

J********"

Ok, back to edutaining subjects. To close the circle I would like to mention that this Soviet bus had been produced under GM license. The so-called "old look" bus was the father of the ZIS / ZIL model range 154-155 but with other dimensions.

I guesstimate in Russia are not less than 500 Packards, more probably twice as much. Russia could doubtless be a Packard-country. The broad popular appeal of the brand is reason enough. But a Packard club? Wrong! A contact address of Packard International? Nope. Owen is right in saying that the Packard club nearest to you is the Nordic Packard Owners Club.

-->http://www.packard.dk/

Russian Packard owners are scattered to the four winds (nine time zones!) and usually associated to local Russian car clubs. For getting parts they use specialized importers like Orlov Motors.

-->http://www.orlovmotors.ru/zapchast/?lang=rus

Other owners try to get parts via ebay and online stores.

Due to the powerful language barrier they rarely or never find a way to American clubs.

Our new member Igor is from Saratov. This brings me to the subject of "За Рулем - Саратов", a local edition of one of the best Russian car magazines, founded 1928.

Igor, to ask for another Packard owners or at least for an US car club in your area, try to get in contact with

Газета За Рулем - Саратов
Адрес: 410002, г . Саратов, ул. Чернышевского, 203, оф. 311
Телефон: 8-927-226-58-21

Good luck with your project.
