Re: 1101 Brake assist issues

Good Morning...Just imagine what we all could learn if your Packard could talk and detail how your brake system ended up as it has! By the time some of these machines were to their 4th owner or so, they were 'Repaired' with anything that might work! We see all sorts of strange repairs in the garage where I volunteer on Fridays! Surprisingly, a few of the strange repairs actually work pretty well. Have a great Packard day. Ernie in Arizona.

Just a short note. Old coils frequently test fine when cold, however they quit working when they become hot! This can cause multiple bad short four letter words! Ernie in Arizona

Good Evening...You might start by contacting Kanter and Max Merritt...They are two of the larger parts suppliers and they well might have what you are looking for. Call them on the phone rather that e-mail as they don't always have everything on line...Welcome to the Packard world. Ernie in Arizona

Good Morning...Very nice machine...Owen would most likely like all the numbers, he has quite a data base of Packard Automobiles...Over on the Packard Club Web Site, it might be that your car was registered in a prior life! Ernie in Arizona

Good Morning...You should have double 00 size cables.

If you have old ones, they can have corrosion inside them that will mess up the power coming through them.

A humble suggestion is to purchase three new cables and take the third one from the positive ground to the frame...You can use Marine Terminals, from Napa, to make it easy to attach the second ground cable...

The extra ground cable really makes a difference. I have one on both my 49 Packard and 31 Ford. They both start easy...

also the above comment regarding timing is right on the money... Have a great Packard day. Ernie in Arizona

Good Morning...You/we seem to be learning about this car's condition little by little by little. Even with a $4,000. price, the car might well end up to cost as much as a nice one ready to enjoy. I wonder, do we have a member on Packard Info who would be willing to go take a look for the cost of gas and render an general opinion? One look is worth a thousand photographs and one photograph can be worth a thousand words...Ernie in Arizona
