You'll want to add a zinc additive to the oil (ZPPD)for reduced lifter and cam wear.

A couple days ago, in the evening I raised the front of the car up and placed it on jack stands. Tonight, I crawled under and sprayed the master cylinder bolts and fittings with Blaster. Would like to remove the master to check for condition of the bore. Fingers crossed I hope I can rebuild it....
See the end of the breather is mashed and needs opened back up. John

The one in the middle, might be a shield where the upper control arm goes through the inner fender?

Stringers would be the under-floor stiffeners, body mountings etc...

Does appear the mice have been into it.... But that is pretty common on old cars.

Some general cooling system questions.

First off which temp thermostat is best to use on a 1951 288 engine. I know in their time they used 160-degree thermostat if using alcohol because of its lower boiling point. But with modern glycol anti-freeze would you still use the 160 or go to a 180-degree?
Second on the heater hoses, are they all 5/8"?
Third, if checking the automatic transmission cooler in the lower radiator hose, what would be a safe pressure to use to check it for leaks?
Thanks John
