Mine has been drained out, willingly or not. All I know is there appears to be no water in the block. When that was done??? The hose between the AT cooler and water pump is rotten.....

What else on the engine needs put together? Sounds like with the head back on the main block is back together?
Standard transmissions usually aren't trouble prone. Might need a new clutch by now.

The truck king pins used floating bushings, so no reaming was necessary. Cars, I don't know.
