Back to the 2126 wiring that I first sought help for 5-6 years ago. New wiring harness was put in place at the resto shop but they dropped the ball on a couple of things including likely forgetting that it was a positive ground car and also inverting the leads on the overdrive relay set up. New relay on the way. Thanks to all here for helping out with wiring diagram sent awhile back. Still working with the colored diagram but would like to find the "numbered wire drawing" that is more readily traced and labled in the table (colored diagram gets somewhat blurred in the fine detail areas) . I believe Howard sent that link and I saved it....somewhere....but can't seem to locate it. It may be lost in a computer crash three years ago but would like to reference that as we start to install the OD relay and trace where any generator charging circuits can be troubleshot. Thanks in advance...apologies for having to bring this up yet again.
Cheers

humanpotatoehybrid.
Thats an issue with my 55 400. will only pull 14 gallons of gas before it is "empty". Could be rusted pin holes or a split in the pickup tube seam. For now...working with 150 mile range around town:{ until I can dive into the tank.

Thqnk you Howard...brain Phart on my end re 6-12 volt vs Pos-Neg ground. The ground was indeed changed to Negative while my 47 retains the positive ground (note to self...pay attention:)
Will give that a try.
Cheers

5587 generator issue

A prior "restoration /preservation had converted the 6 volt system to 12 volts. I beleive the car sat for around 12 years with no significant driving other than to start and run briefly. Still working thru some glitches in electrical...fuel gauge, radio etc but most of the electrical systems are working fine. After driving several trips of 30-50 miles round trip, I realized the generator is not charging the battery. I believe I saw a reference to the conversion issues that might arise but can't find that thread. Any suggestions as to where to start trouble shooting the wiring from generator?

As Howard points out, the ground is likely an issue with both. gauges that I have had a similar problem with had dropped the ground connection and without that, they were "pegged" to the right.

Howard,
Thanks for the detailed response and diagrams. The "well of knowledge" here is bottomless it appears. Will let all know how I fare on this issue. Most everything else is working as normal.
Cheers

this is how it arrived on the truck...seems the system was working at some point. Now center wheel cover medallion is obscured by fender skirt.

TORSION LEVEL CONTROL ON 55 400

Trouble shooting the torsion level control operation which does not see to be operating. I had jacked both sides of the front up to remove wheels and clean yrs of dirt from suspension to inspect. When lowered back down, the rear end is in "squat mode" regardless of switch location. Searched on line for information and found a series of good answers/suggestions but looked to be addressing the "56 set up. Howard offered a bit of information on the 55 but not really detailed that I could work with. I believe the system was working properly but never heard the motor run since it was delivered to me from MO two weeks ago. Thanks for any insights.
