If you do a cylinder leak down test. This will tell you where most of the problems are.

I always like how this one topic goes round and round. Maybe Big Kev should setup it's own link, a lot of good information here and what ever works for you without destroying your car the better.
I myself got one hub off by beating on a J.C. Whitney hub puller, but still working on the other side.

Hi, for $2000.00 that does not sound too bad, if the body is in good shape. Do a lot of looking under the car and ask a lot of question about its up keep in the past. There are better people here that that give you better insight as to what to look for but for me just keep in mind is this for fun or money, because a lot of the time your never get your money back, but they can be a great deal of fun.

Glad to hear it all worked out. I know this is a little late but I have a dentist mirror that I use to check the keepers after removing the valve compression tool. I figure I would only mention so if someone else is following this they will think about it, maybe.
