I've not been able to get response from Crin either, especially about the improperly made 1955-1956 ignition bezels for which I am very unhappy. I tried direct emails, PMs and posts here on this site but nothing whatsoever in return.

West's general price is probably close but so many variables with just a few photos to go by, it's difficult to say for sure. Probably best to invest in a professional appraisal by someone well-versed in vintage cars and specifically in Packard. Also, selling locally, through Craig's List, Facebook or even eBay won't fetch the best price so maybe consider consigning it through one of the auction houses. Even if you had to pay to transport it there, you would likely get the most for it that way.

For Sale: 1940 - 1941 Rebuilt Right Front Delco Shock Absorber
Home away from home
Home away from home

Packard Don
Rebuilt or possibly NOS front shock absorber which according to charts fits the right front of 1940 110, 120, 160 and 1941 120 except commercial chassis. Delco number 2206A. $275 plus shipping. Select this link for more photos and to buy through my site.

Although most if my parts are at my Oregon shop where I go every couple months for a week or two at a time, this part is here at my California home for quick shipping. Shipping is additional and I cannot calculate the cost in advance until it's packed and ready to go.

At my Oregon shop, I also have several cores for rebuilding.

I bought cylinders from Napa for my 1954 Patrician but discovered that the bleed valve used different wrenches between them! Some were metric (10mm) while others were not (3/8”) so maybe bring along a wrench if you want them to match.

As for the cross reference chart here, it is a bit of a mess so be sure to bring along your old part to confirm. For example, many hoses listed indicate that an adapter is needed but I’ve not found that to be true so maybe whoever posted those entries had non0stock cylinders already.

Re: Engine numbers

The car was probably originally titled as 1950 but somewhere along the line ended up as 1949. As a VIN verifier, it would be 1950 to me if I were verifying it so surely the error can be corrected in your state too. I wouldn’t bring up the engine number discrepancy to your local department of motor vehicles, though, as too many details seem to confuse them.

As stated in other posts, a VIN is still a Vehicle Identification Number even if it isn’t a standardized VIN. Here in California there is no distinction so on older vehicles the VIN could even be the engine number but there is a distinction between the build year and the model year. As a licensed VIN verifier, I need to be able to state definitively why the year is what is on the documentation which, on later Packards, is easy but no so on many makes where I have to research and sift through serial number charts.

You can paste or type the engine number into the model identification form which shows it to be 23rd series (1949-1950) 327 with solid lifters and it will list the models for which it is appropriate.

Re: OCR

Of course, the OCRed (but not fully proofed) version of the 1955-1956 parts book is here on this site in a more reliable database format but the others are quite handy. I keep a OCRed digital copy of the manuals I need for all my cars on my iPad and being able to open and search them there is far easier than have to search through indexes and it also helps keep the originals clean! The documents I have were scanned from my own hard copies copies so don’t have the PackardInfo.com watermarks as those sometimes interfere with the OCR process.

23rd series is the second half of 1949 and all of 1950. Not so much a carryover as Packard always used series but by then the states would not allow going by series alone and required a model year designation so the 22nd series and the 23rd series were were split between three model years.
