For my own reference, would this apply to 1956 Clipper too?

No thread locker or lock washers but be sure to use the steel locking plates that go behind each pair. They have little tabs that are bent up against one of the hex flats of each bolt. Merritt has those too.

The bolt pattern to the bell housing is the same but no, they are not interchangeable. The 356 has a much larger input shaft and there are internal differences too.

Woodlights but otherwise I know little about them. No upper and lower - those are the headlights with the lower ones being accessory running lights.

These don’t wear out. The only reason I had to replace mine was that some had the threads rounded over by being forced at some point into the holes without first aligning the flywheel.
That said, if you’re sure you set the torque wrench properly, there is no way these should have snapped even if they were somehow able to bottom out which can’t happen.

They are a type of shoulder bolt made specifically for this application so nothing else will work properly or safely. Best to either splurge and buy the proper ones or try to find some used ones. I have a couple but unfortunately they are 700 miles away but if you've not found one by then, I can send you one the next time I'm at my shop.

Max Merritt has new bolts and retainers which I know because I have one of their sets in my 1951.

“Restored” by definition means put back to original. This one is by far NOT restored and looks ridiculous with those towering sidemoints that do not fit the 115’s short fenders. Even the later Six and 110 with their larger front fenders did not have room for side mounts.

Presuming the block was hot-tanked and thoroughly flushed, was the brass coolant distribution tube removed first, inspected for damage, then reinstalled afterward?
