Sounds like - and probably is - an aftermarket set up so best to be sure that it does not bypass the safety limit switches! If that happens, there can be serious and possibly irreparable mechanical damage.

As I understand it the CL thread was called that because at the time it began, Craig’s List was one of the few games in town other than eBay. However, the thread has always been open to other For Sale venues too. Probably not eBay as it’s easy to search but some of the more obscure or regional auction sites or even Facebook are probably fine although the latter often requires a membership to view which many aren’t keen on getting.

Thank you but all I have is the Packard part number. It’s even possible that I already have one somewhere but if so, who knows where in my tons of unsorted parts it may have gone!

UPDATE: The Stewart Warner number is apparently the same as the Packard part number, preceded by SW so the one I need would be SW412444 and should be stamped on it.

With the bearings in-hand, it should be easy to figure out. Strange they are having the issue as I've had a number of Packard engines rebuilt and line-bored in the process and the question never came up!

I typically use Vintage Car LEDs which have a similar look to the originals, especially if you choose the Economy lens option. They work with either polarity.

Do you mean that the difficulty is in posting links here? There is a limit to how many can be posted at once but otherwise I have no idea as I don’t use the xoops software that this site has.

There was a woman in the NorCal region of PAC many years ago who had a solid blue 1956 Clipper Deluxe without Torsion-Level which I understood was the standard configuration for that model. Her father bought it when new but maybe 1955 was different.

Watch out for buying anything on Facebook. Scammers come out of thw woodwork there and just this morning I was reading of one who took the money and disappeared, deleting the account. As careful as I am about scammers, I bought something a few years ago on Facebook that I was fairly sure at the time was a scam and it was. Fortunately, due to my suspicions, I used American Express which reversed the charges.

I can't help with value but I think I would steer clear of one with such obvious mouse infestation. Another member bought a 1954 Clipper hardtop with the problem and found that he had to replace the entire header in the roof as there was nothing left of the steel.

Soak it, let it set and keep it wet. Be patient as it may take a week or more before it frees up. Trying to force it, you'll end up breaking the block. Maybe even carburetor cleaner will help but it evaporates fairly fast so it will take a lot of it.
