Ross, That thought had occurred to me and if I do that, I’ll need to powder coat the dash too to match. No way to match the proper black but should be close enough!

Yes, there are many shades of black which I learned when trying to touch up some thin areas on my all-original 1952 Henney-Packard Nu-3-Way where the primer was showing through on the front fender top ridges. I used a high quality Ditzler lacquer which, compared to what was on the car, looked gray!

Thank you, Howard! From what I can find V is actually Corsican Black for 1956 so I’ll have to look for a source.

I'm getting ready to finally send off the door panels to SMS so that they will be done in a year or two when I'm ready to get back to work on this car but the work will involve adding power windows. To that end, I got new steel trim panels with the proper switch cutouts for the front doors and they need to be painted before being sent off. The replacements are gray but need to be black so what brand and/or type of primer and paint is used for this type of panel? Is it semi-glass or gloss? Is stripping down to the metal preferred?

A 20th Series Clipper is shown briefly and only from the rear near the beginning of the second episode of the Spanish drama on Netflix called Someone Has to Die.

Every one I’ve seen has the thin board behind it and is crimped very lightly into place at the edges. If the new piece is cut and beveled properly, it should just pop back in, then the piece behind keeps it pushed toward the crimped edge to prevent rattling.

Those actually ARE the hubcaps. They are rattling around inside the wheel cover. Anyway, I can’t imagine why they would be loose unless they are the incorrect parts or have taken a “set” of a compressed size. Should be standard so try NAPA for replacements.

Is it possible that your car has the battery Optima tray? I’ve never seen one but know that they are quite different than the stock one.

There was a series of retro cars some years back that looked pretty much like it. Supposedly they were so proportioned that even their front fiberglass parts would fit an original car.

Is anyone still making the solid state conversions?
