I do have a battery disconnect switch on it and use it when the car sets any time. My driving is not with lights or the heater, radio on,, everything is off, and dont have that many restarts There should be no battery drain with the disconnect switch as their is no place for it to drain to, If my thinking is correct. And I have two red top batteries hook in tandem as well.
Owen at what speed does your amp gauage really move off of 0 and start charging?

Does any one use a battery maintainer to keep the battery fully charged at all times. As if I dont drive my 34 1101 for 7-10 days it seems like the battery is a little run down. as I have two new (this Spring) red top optima batterys in the car and the generator rewired from AER a year ago so it should all should be good? The charging rate is about 7 amp and it does not show charging until between 15 and 20 mph. So driving on a city street it is really not charging the cars battery and if I drive 4-5 miles at 35-40 mph it does not put the battery at fully charged only 50% according to the battery charger when I hook it up to the car batteries.

I do have cut off on the battery so I know the current from the battery is not being drawn off some where due to a short.
So wondering if any one has similar problems.

The guage shows 0 all the time and the nob I press for the oil level also does not show when pressed.

I only see one glass type fuse under the steering colum with a larger rely about 1-1/2 wide and 3 inches long alumium covering. The only other lights that do not work are the brakes light that are supose to come on when the gear shifter is left in reverse.

the fuel guage on my 34 quit working just recently and all the wires are connected, was wondering if it is connected thru a fuse and looking at the wiring schemtic I do not see where a fuse is or if it even has one. Does the sending unit in the tank go bad or the other possible idea is a short some where in the wiring any thoughts or ideas would be helpful.
If I check it out with a ohm meter what reading should it be, any tips or thoughts on this would be helpful. thanks

On my 37 touring sedan 115 C I was adjusting the timing and I cant find the hold down clam or anything that holds the distributor in place. The only thing keeping it somewhat secure is the tubing that goes to the vacuum advance. The only bolts on it are what goes into the engine block. I made a adjustment by bending the tubing somewhat is that how it is normally done???

Has any one ever changed from a 6 volt battery to a 8 volt battery on these pre-war cars. Did it improve the headlights being brighter and help turn the motor over better. Does a person have to adjust the voltage reg or make any other changes.for it too work, looking for the pros and cons of it. thanks
