Parts like that in the pan are unlikely to cause any damage and my 1965 Cadillac had a piece of the dipstick in there for many years with no harm done.

I think that a more important question is sedan vs hardtop regardless of number of doors and the hardtop would probably fetch a higher price over a 2-door or 4-door sedan. Of course, Packard did not offer a 4-door hardtop as other makes did but comparing a 4-door sedan with a 2-door hardtop is comparing apples and oranges as they were build with two different target audiences in mind.

Having said that, it might be slightly more difficult to get into the back of a 2-door car whether sedan or hardtop but, of course, the doors are also wider and the seat-backs tilt forward so not all that difficult to do on the older cars.

As for convertibles, for me and given a choice, I would take a two-door hardtop over a convertible any day but I am also one who likes sedans. On my '60s era cars, one is a 4-door hardtop and the other is a 4-door pillared hardtop and I like both.

I wouldn’t add a vent to the filler pipe! You’ll be asking for leaks. Just get a proper vented cap and not the type with the vent as a hole through the center that some sell as those will leak too.

This oil filter canister was from my original Packard, a 1939 Six Touring Sedan and the family color was my doing but I was a teenager so what did I know? I am not sure if this is factory or after market but it includes the bracket that fits the holes in the Packard head. The lines are not included but if they were steel, I probably have them somewhere but they have not yet been identified.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of this 1940 120 Club Sedan by Bohman & Schwartz? I see photos of it all over the place as being for sale but no responses to inquiries on any of the sites.

Actually vice versa is what I meant. If you search Texas but the entry has only TX, it will find Texas in the lookup table as coded or related from the TX entry which is where the term relational database comes from. So in other words, you could search TX or Texas and it would still find it and none of the entries need to be changed in order for it to work.

That said, those in Texas or most other states would get better results than I do when typing OR rather than Oregon! It is obviously a very common word.

What I do on my sites is to have a lookup table containing the full names with a column that joins the shortened versions. Then the query for the search sees both the full name and the abbreviation without any need to go back and change all the data. That is one of the nice things about relational databases.
