Re: Post War Cormorant Mascot

In 1952, the ornament was re-designed with folded wings and was re-designed again for 1953 and 1954 as a one-piece casting with much less pronounced wings.

Actually the 1953-1954 cormorant was two-piece with the body incorporated into the base and the wings as a single separate piece. Before that, the base and body were separate and not only were the wings individual but there was also a wedge inside to keep them in place.

I am actually an IT professional and a Web and database programmer so I understand the error itself. What I don’t understand is why I am getting it. I have no VPN and with xoops (the software used for this site), it gives that error when there are too many hits or reloads in quick succession from the same IP where it thinks it’s under attack. However, I got home close to midnight last night from Oregon and didn’t try accessing the site until this morning where I got the error immediately.

I recognized it instantly as Nash and it’s one of my favorite ornaments! I know others beat me to the answer but I wanted to give my two0cent’s worth too.

I’ve been away from my home IP address for over two weeks, yet the first time I tried to log back in now that I’m home, I was unable. Right now I am on cellular but from WiFi I cannot access it at all!

If it's a senior transmission, then the front pilot would be too large for a junior although possibly it's a matter of changing out the bushing in the crankshaft.

I can't figure out how oil even got there as no passages lead to the studs as far as I know.

It's the proper hood ornament but the wings are on upside down with the left and right on opposite sides to fit. Yes, I know it resembles the 1952 style but trust me, it isn't! Look again closely at the notch in the wing which for 1951 would be at the back and 1952 would be on the bottom but also the shape is wrong for 1952. On this one, they are at the top which means upside down 1951 wings.

Here is what the official 56 factory accessory looked like. Of course the clear plastic sheet over the license plate would be illegal in many states today if you did chance upon finding an original. The repros may still be out there and I don't think those had the clear plastic.

They are definitely illegal in California as we got a ticket for them on a 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham that the original owner had installed. In the Acura parts department once and saw them for sale on a display, I mentioned to the counter person that selling them in California was not illegal but using them on the street was and next time they were gone.

Yes, but that's illegal and against PayPal's service agreement.

It's always possible but maybe not always practical although practicality is a personal decision more than anything else.
