Re: Is the buy it now price reasonable for this '56 Executive?

The buy it now price of $19,995 seems a little high to me. At that price I would expect the engine compartment to be fresh and detailed, no pits on the "V" trunk emblem and a detailed interior. This seems like #1 condition Packard 400 money. Just my 2 cents.

Dezi, in addition, I would like to draw your attention to the Packard Parts Cross Reference Database. A link to the Parts-X-Reference you will find conveniently situated in the main menu left hand side. It is open to search and to add own finds.
I already searched for a new headlight but without success.

Please disregard my sidenote if you've known that for ages.

Thanks Guscha. I did check there first.

Heed Owens warning about carrying an extra gasket. I carry 3hree extras. Mine are hand cut from cork gasket material about the same thickness as the rubber oem gasket.

PackardV8 - I will heed O-D's advise/warning and make this part of my emergency kit for the car.

Thanks All

Parts Cross Reference
Home away from home
Home away from home

Getting the '53 Caribbean ready for the tour season. Shake down cruise last weekend revealed the need for a new headlight (might as well replace both). Is there a cross reference part number to something NAPA or Autozone mught carry?

While I am at it, is there a source for the glass and ceramic fuel filter as the silver cannisted type is an afront to my sensibilties

Thanks for the help.

Try the following link:

http://pc.dupont.com/dpc/en/US/html/visitor/b/dr/home.html

On the far right of the page is a link to the Historical Color Library. Click on that and use the drop down menus to find the color chips and formulas for your car. Write down the DUCO stock number and formulation code.

Then go back to the original page and click the contact us link (lower left side of page). That'll get you to a page where you can type in your request like "I am looking for a modern cross reference for a 1955 Packard. Topaz metalic and Agate". Give them the DUCO stock numbers and formulation codes. They'll send you an email back with a close if not exact match from today's Dupont formulas within 24 hours.

This worked for me. Hope it helps you.

Good Luck

Edit - I looked up the info for you. Agate = DUCO stock # 2163, formulation code 246-58842. Topaz metallic = Duco stock# 2161-H, formulation code 202-58839H

Hey Kev,

I recall seeing a post a couple weeks back offering a DVD for a $10.00 donation. I couldn't relocate it but would like to contribute. Remind me how and where to forward funds.

Mine needs a driver side turn signal lens - are these available anywhere? Haven't seen any on "that auction site".

You might try Joel or Marvin at Patrician Industries.

Hi Alburton,

That was a great story in the owner's registry. I hope you and your young family enjoy many years of Packard ownership. Maybe we'll see you around some of the shows in the midwest. What a hero your dad is to let you go for your dream. A lesson for all us dads
