Beautiful work, Ross!

I'm looking forward to an update on your After Eight project, too!

Next Tuesday on the blog, we will post Richard Teague's idea of a Caribbean that was rendered by Ken Eberts shortly before Teague's death.

Your points are well taken. I agree with you that it is highly unlikely that we will see Packard revived in any form. Your point about Studebaker building Packards as a model as opposed to a make and your comment about Studebaker being in the business of selling Studebakers rather than Packards is spot-on!

As a result of last week's post about the death of Richard Teague's son Jeff,
we published Stuart Blond's article from 2008 chronicling the various attempt to revive the Packard marque over the years.

Here is last week's post about Jeff Teague:

Here is the new post, Stuart's article:

We also link back to the post here at PackardInfo about the renderings of a new Packard by Dennis Burke and John Perkins.

I remember the Packard dealer in my home town of Lubbock, Texas having a 4 door Patrician 400 in that exact color combination on the showroom floor. When you drove by the dealership at night, everything else in the show room was dark, but this Patrician 400 was illuminated by spot lights. The lighting was dramatic - the contrast between the light and dark - and that Patrician looked spectacular. I've never forgotten that.

Yes!
I'm embarrassed to say that I remember when I thought that being 50 was old. Now that I'm 10 years older than Jeff Teague was, 59 seems YOUNG!

I'm happy to see this update. I am enjoying following your progress. I think this will turn out to be quite a splendid little roadster!

Jeff Teague died on 29 July. A memorial will be held for him on 28 August at Art Center College, from which he graduated.

Re the '53 Caribbean - Yes! That is an amazingly low price.
I wonder if that is this Caribbean:

(scroll down when you are on the page)

Perhaps it isn't as that was not a Mecum auction. The Caribbean I wrote about went to Mecum in a packaged deal to get a '32 Duesenberg SJ. The man who traded the Caribbean as part of the deal to get the Duesenberg died only about 6 months later.

He still had the '55 Caribbean (5588-1185) when he died. I'm trying to keep track of where this car goes. As the owner had an ongoing working rapport with Mecum, it will probably go to one of their auctions.
