Stephen, Thank You! I bought the car two years ago, had the tailgate done right away. The rest of the woodwork only took about two months. Paintwork the same. Then back to the woodshop for install. The slowest part of this operation has been the chrome shop, partly my fault as I hee-hawed around installing a new wiring harness and didn't take all the chrome work in at once. As you can see I an still waiting for the grille and parts, have the bumper all assembled and ready for install.

Ross: "Wood By Whiskers" aka Denny Fetzer (Somerset Wi) did all my wood including building that complicated tailgate. Actually the paint is Aztec Brown Metallic, the original color of the car.

After a loooong winter it was time to change the "bluewalls" into whItewalls. A quick bath then off to the local hiway to try out the new Diamondbacks. My oh my what a difference from the bias tires. These tires rode and handled great! The Diamondback 700/15 is a great choice for the 22nd/23rd series cars.

C'mon boys....HaHa!....blue coating is a protectorant (is that a word?) applied for shipping and handling purposes. Washes off with soap and water. I left it on until spring for the above reason as there is only 24" of snow on the ground here. Tires are from Diamondback. Great people to deal with.

I decided not to wait for the Firestones, bought the Yokahamas instead, I like the look as they appear somewhat vintage.

So I could assume that my block is a service replacement for the original block? Could the six digit number surrounded by the letter prefix and suffix be the original engine number? It seems that that number would fall into the 1948 sequence. As far as displacement, I hesitate to take anything apart (if it ain't broke don't fix it!) but I do know this car goes, really moves compared to other base 22nd series cars. Perhaps it is a 327.

Several months ago I posted a question concerning the engine number on my 1948 Station Sedan. There were a couple theories offered along with a request for more numbers from the car. Here is what I have, feel free to offer an opinion as to if mine could be original to the car or a replacement. The first pic is the # on the block, second is the casting date, third is on the cyl. head The car was registered in Calif. at one time. Thanks, Jeff P. / MN
