Any PACKARD Lit. that tells u what the had in mind for the WICK that is inside the DIST that rubs agents the Cam. Im doing a rebuild on my Dist - pulled it out yrs back and wondering if i should put it back. Ive been running grease on the Cam which works. Thinking P was think u oil the WICK but haven't found anything in Lit. to tell me.

JUST ONE MANS OPINION
being just #3 i would 1st - when the suns gone down pull the DistCap cover and c if u have any fireworks going on 2nd - swap #3 wire with #6 3rd - swap #3 plug with another 4th - ck the inside of the Cap for carbon tracking and/or corrosion on term #3 BTW - Its an Eight. NOT a Standard Eight. Believe PACKARD stopped ref to the smaller eights as Standard in '32. Im sure if im wrong with '32 someone will correct me.

Worked on a rebuilt trans that was doing this and found Factory Spacers were missing/left out. Maybe the this '37 trans was rebuilt by the same guy.
HINT:Theres Peel-Away Shim Packs u can get from McMaster that r close to orig sizes that give u a variation of thickness. You have to mach. the ID out. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-shims/=y7fneg

Ive looked at this Bearing Lub TOOL many times and thought about making one but in the end asked myself why. As said before best thing is to pull the bearings and clean or replace with new. Old grease can get as hard as the bearings and thus this Tool would not do u much good.
Agree with O-D that the bore matches the taper of the Axle and thus the threads give u a puller attachment. If u look at he poor photo u can c the female KEYWAY that matches the Axle KEY. Wonder if the BEARINGBUDDY guy got his idea from this Lub. Tool. REMAKING THE WHEEL greaser http://www.bearingbuddy.com/how.html

Latest GEERS were mfg by PHIL BRAY out of Mich. Phils gone to the PACKARD Factory in the Sky. Picked up rummors that someone was picking up the remanufactoring. I have 2 '34s and both have hi sp gers and love it.
1100 with DEVERCO (mfg in the 60s) 1104 with Phil Hill (70s to 90s) Guess the only problem i can tell u is u can drive the car todamfast with them.
