sorry but a re-stamped VIN plate on A Darrin asks more questions than it answers

I salute the Kanter's for taking on this complex and incredible project! thank you for preserving this special car! This perhaps is indeed the last custom made to order non catalogued coach-built Packard ever made

the guy was in Indiana near Indy and was called "Tenna Masters" He had two 1955 Caribbeans for sale in about 1998 when i visited his shop. One was rusty and one was rust free but burned and a factory a/c car. He had some 1953 Caribbean parts also including a pair of full quarter panels taken off of a wrecked car in the early 1960's

Packard lost money on every lwb 53-54 car built. Nance tried hard to get Packard's name back on the luxury map and this was a smart step to try. They were fine cars and Henney did great work on them. Many leftover 1953's were sold in the middle of 1954 at Cavalier prices. Many larger families bought them to carry around multiple kids before the minivan era.

My sincere apologies to the owner, I did not realize they wanted to keep information about the cars' features and/or details confidential, I will refrain from posting or providing any further information about the subject vehicle. I will certainly respect the owner's wishes even though the request for confidentiality was not previously mentioned until earlier today

two photos of what most folks believe is the 1953 Caribbean prototype:

would be interesting to know if the newly discovered car has the pre-production continental kit hubcap intact? and also if the location of the backup lights are the same

the 1954 Packard Convertible (non-Caribbean) Prototype was on ebay for sale about two years ago, it was a modified 53 Convertible with a 53 Convertible Briggs data plate and a 53 style Stamped plate on the door post with a super early 5479 number on it, It appears that Packard just stamped'em and sold them after their testing/show/demonstration purpose was done. It appears that they only special feature the 53 Caribbean prototype may have had was the Packard script on the lower front fenders. The owner reports that the holes on one side for this script still exist. It appears this car was stamped with a later (Spring 1953) serial number but all other factors indicate a fall 1952 built car. Certainly an interesting find.

why convert to 12V? these cars operated fine on the original 6V systems. Can't you just add a second 6V battery in series to power needed 12V accessories as worse case?

I thought the 41 Barrymore Packard was modified by a company called "Hollywood". I saw the data plate on it when Don Rook had it for sale in Arkansas years ago

I see a 1953 7 Passenger sedan in the building. Why was the building not locked and not equipped with an alarm system? These do not look like overly valuable cars at first glance. It's sad to think that folks donate cars to museums so they will be loved, restored and safe. Interesting
